TOTAL transaction activity in Singapore has hit US$55.4 billion so far this year, up 30 per cent from US$42.5 billion a year ago, data from American Appraisal showed on Thursday. Transaction activity includes mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, venture capital, and IPO deals.
M&A made up the bulk of the transaction activity in Singapore, given the 346 deals valued at US$50.7 billion this year, with the largest transaction being GIC's US$8.1 billion acquisition of IndCor Properties in the United States. The total M&A deal value last year was US$36 billion. Over 45 per cent of the M&A deals this year involved the real estate sector.
