EY's Japanese arm launches internal probe of Toshiba audit

Source says team of about 20 audit check specialists aims to complete investigation by end-August

Hisao Tanaka, Toshiba's president and CEO who quit last month, was among top executives who complained of "shameful results" and agreed to the reporting of inflated profits over several years.


THE Japanese affiliate of Ernst & Young LLC (EY) has launched an in-house investigation into its audit of Toshiba Corp in the wake of the electronics maker's US$1.2 billion accounting scandal, a person with knowledge of the matter said.
