A FIRE broke out at SP PowerGrid's Labrador sub-station located at Pasir Panjang Road at 3pm on Wednesday. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was called in.
The SP PowerGrid sub-station houses 230 kilovolt (kV) transformers, and the company is currently looking into the cause of the fire and is assessing the extent of damage.
"All staff on site were safely evacuated, and no injuries were sustained. The fire did not result in any electricity supply disruption," an SP PowerGrid spokesman said in a statement.
Formed in October 2003, SP PowerGrid manages the transmission network and the operation of the distribution network of SP PowerAssets, the sole provider of electricity transmission and distribution services in Singapore. Both are major subsidiaries of SP Power.
SP Power is 100 per cent-owned by Temasek Holdings.
