SingTel promotes Allen Lew to lead Optus
It's a return to familiar territory for him, having led Optus's consumer and mobile businesses from 2001 to 2006

AFTER searching globally for almost a year for a new chief executive for its Australian unit Optus, parent SingTel has decided to promote its own man in Singapore instead to helm the second largest telco Down Under after Telstra.
Early on Friday, the Singapore telco said Group Digital L!fe CEO Allen Lew will be CEO of Consumer Australia and Optus CEO with effect from Oct 1.
The appointment ends a hunt which began last October, when former chief Kevin Russell informed SingTel of his intention to quit. He left in end-March this year after barely two years at Optus.
