German economy receives boost from local spending spree

Low interest rate on savings, falling unemployment and oil prices driving consumption in 2015

According to German kitchen maker Haecker, Germans are splurging on high-end kitchens because low interest rates made saving unattractive and loans cheap. It expects its kitchen sales to grow by up to 6 per cent this year.
