MTV to resurrect its news division
It has hired over 20 journalists to cover pop culture and politics, hopes to prop up Viacom

MTV, looking to reclaim the grip it held on youth culture with personalities such as correspondent Kurt Loder, has hired several journalists to re-invigorate the Viacom Inc cable network's news organisation. They include veterans from Grantland and New Republic.
Alex Pappademas, who worked at the Grantland pop culture and sports website operated by ESPN, will be executive editor of MTV news and oversee the creation of a podcast network.
