Minimum wage in half of all US states to go up in the new year

These rises were pushed through at state level; federal level rise is pending

STATE LEGISLATURES STEP IN: The rise in minimum wage in the 20 states will mean that about 60 per cent of American workers will be covered by minimum-wage rates higher than those at federal level, now at US$7.25 an hour.
