Healthcare spending in Singapore is expected to rise from over S$9 billion this year, to over S$13 billion in 2020, said Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, on Monday.

"It will continue to increase beyond this decade," said Mr Tharman, referring to healthcare spending.

"While we had set aside monies last year to fund the full projected cost of the Pioneer Generation Package, the underlying healthcare subsidies received by all Singaporeans will need to be funded from annual budgets."
