[SINGAPORE] The People's Action Party's (PAP) Teo Ho Pin or "Mr Town Council" will defend his Bukit Panjang seat in a straight fight with Singapore Democratic Party's (SDP's) Khung Wai Yeen.
Dr Teo, 55, has served as MP for the former Holland-Bukit Panjang GRC from 2001 to 2006, before taking charge of the Bukit Panjang Single Member Constituency (SMC) from 2006.In the 2011 general elections, Dr Teo was voted into office again as a MP for Bukit Panjang SMC.
SDP's Mr Khung, 34, is an accounts manager at a European multinational company.
The name of Uber driver Shirwin Eu, who was spotted earlier at the nomination centre and expressed intent to file his papers to contest as an independent candidate in the Bukit Panjang SMC, did not show up on the notice board. He had earlier said he did not have the required signatures (proposer, seconder and assentors) to file his nomination papers and would provide a S$50 food voucher to those willing to sign up for him.
PAP's lineup for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC remains unchanged, led by Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and includes Minister of State for Education as well as Communications and Information Sim Ann, and backbenchers Christopher de Souza and Liang Eng Hwa. They will defend their constituency in a fight with SDP.
SDP's team, led by its chief Chee Soon Juan comprises Paul Tambyah, Chong Wai Fung and Sidek Mallek.
