Spring strengthens its international networks

THE Business Excellence framework is aligned with excellence frameworks adopted for the US Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Excellence Award, Japan Quality Award and the Australian Business Excellence Awards.

As the administrator of Singapore's Business Excellence initiative, Spring Singapore has developed and strengthened its international networks through the years.

Spring is a founding member of the Global Excellence Model (GEM) Council. The GEM Council comprises members from countries or regions with a well established Business Excellence initiative, including Australia, Europe, India, Japan, Latin America, Mexico and the US.

Member countries meet annually to share knowledge and experiences, discuss trends which impact the excellence models and collaborate on best practice sharing, research studies and expert exchange. Selected Singapore assessors have the opportunity to participate in overseas assessments.

Spring was appointed by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) to act as a Centre of Excellence (COE) for Business Excellence in 2009. The APO is a regional intergovernmental organisation whose mission is to contribute to the socio-economic development of Asia and the Pacific through enhancing productivity. This is the first COE appointed by the APO.

As the COE for Business Excellence, Singapore has been facilitating an annual BE training workshop for delegates from 20 APO member countries and has been helping various regional economies to develop their own BE initiative and awards programme.

Singapore award winners and BE practitioners have also been invited to present and share at various international fora. This recognition is a strong testimony of Singapore's efforts and achievements in business excellence.
