Riding on the Belt and Road Initiative
AS announced in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Belt and Road Initiative brings together the strength of the economies within its frames and has made great strides with mutual development.
In 2015, Singapore contributed more than 80 per cent of the total investment from the Belt and Road countries to China, and was also one of the largest destinations for China's investments. The bilateral relations between Singapore and China has entered into a new phase, a partnership of all-round cooperation.
In this new context, with numerous opportunities emerging, it is vital for enterprises of both countries to seize the opportunities brought by this growth driver in order to achieve win-win development with their partners.
CNQC Group (also known as Qingjian) ventured overseas in 1983 and has been expanding its operations to more than 20 countries globally. Driven by the Belt and Road initiative and the group's strategy of "Internationalisation, Localisation and Integration", CNQC Group has been actively engaged in the construction, property development, and trading businesses among the Belt and Road countries.
CNQC Group's steady and sustainable development is reflected in its presence on the list of Top 80 Chinese Contractors for 12 consecutive years and its ranking of 81st among the global Top 250 International Contractors published by Engineering News Record in 2015.
To facilitate the participation in the Belt and Road Initiative of Qingdao's engineering companies, CNQC Group initiated the formation of Qingdao International Engineering Development Alliance together with other construction enterprises, to explore the international construction market jointly.
The Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau businesses of CNQC Group, namely CNQC, are listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, putting in place another platform for capital, expertise and human resources.
Facilitated by the international financial centres of Hong Kong and Singapore, CNQC is better equipped to serve as an intermediary of resources from Hong Kong, Singapore and mainland China and to participate in the development of the countries in South-east Asia.

Leveraging Singapore's strategic regional advantage, CNQC expands its market regionally to other countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar.

Localisation is the key in CNQC Group's internationalisation along with the Belt and Road initiative. As Singapore is embarking on the journey of transforming into a smart nation, CNQC actively participates in the realisation of this national vision. In order to develop technical support, CNQC set up Technical Research & Development Centres for developing innovative technology of construction industrialisation, smart homes and smart communities.
CNQC launched The Visionaire, Singapore's first executive condominium with smart homes recently and successfully promotes the implementation of Hilife, a smart lifestyle portal.
To maximise capital resources and to support continual development, CNQC actively strengthens cooperation with its partners to pool financial resources from Hong Kong, Singapore and mainland China. Focused on developing local talent, CNQC continually builds up its human capital through its development programmes and well-being initiatives for its staff.
CNQC has been recognised as a Singapore Top 10 Developer by BCI Asia in recent years, and awarded multiple honours for its quality property developments and construction projects. Recently, CNQC made one of the largest en bloc purchases in Singapore's history and was awarded a commercial and residential site separately, expanding its portfolio and contributing to the healthy development of the Singapore property development industry.
CNQC expands its market not only through its businesses, but also through social efforts. For environment sustainability, CNQC designs and constructs with environmentally friendly practices.
For social sustainability, it actively promotes charity and cultural exchange events. CNQC is always committed to shaping a sustainable and quality living for the society.
The Belt and Road initiative laid the foundation for multi-lateral and multi-faceted cooperation potentials.
