A LEADING award celebrating successful and responsible entrepreneurship, One Asia Awards, previously known as SME One Asia Awards, has taken a leap forward by going regional. At the One Asia Awards 2015 gala event held in November last year at the Marina Bay Sands Ballroom, the winners came from China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.
A total of 32 awards were conferred on the proud winners, with a string of winners being celebrated for corporate achievements and responsible leadership. There were six Special Award winners for the night, each boasting a strong business philosophy that drives their business to greater heights.
The One Asia Awards is organised annually by the Singapore-based APF Group. The latest event, held for the fifth year running, attracted nominations from several countries across the region, thus providing a platform for local businesses to compete head on with regional businesses.
Multinational corporation powerhouse HIK Vision took the top award of the night by grabbing the INC Gold Award. Japanese company, Premium Water, scooped the INC STAR Award, one of the six Special Awards. Shenzhen Carku Technology Co Ltd from China took home the Emerging Award, while Corporate Excelsior (M) Sdn Bhd from Malaysia was presented the Prominent Award. Local household name Eighteen Chefs was the Notable Award winner and listed firm ISOTeam Ltd topped the Distinguished Awards.
"The rebranding to One Asia Awards is a milestone for APF, as APF looks at a greater emphasis on serving enterprises across all sizes. We look forward to working with both SMEs and MNCs on recognising not only successful enterprises but also responsible stewards," Glenn Lim, executive director of APF Group, tells The Business Times.
"What the One Asia Awards hopes to do is to open up opportunities for businesses and enterprises to learn from each other's success, and gain new insights into how sustainability can play a role towards an enterprise's success," he adds. Hence, winners not only gain recognition, but also learn from other successful businesses and connect with them.
About the One Asia Awards
The One Asia Awards is a regional award set up to recognise and reward the success and leadership achievements of businesses in Singapore and across Asia, as well as to raise the profiles and value of winners on a regional platform to showcase their business and global competitiveness.
For 2015, there were six award categories: Special Awards (The Hoffen Award, The He Xie Award, The Avant-Garde Award and The Kagayaki Award); Distinguished Awards; Prominent Awards; Notable Awards; Emerging Awards and INC One Asia Awards.
Adds Dato Brans Ong, chairman of the APF Group: "Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in today's business world and Singapore has always been active in connecting businesses across Asia. APF supports our Awards winners and business partners with our regional platform to integrate business communities across Asia. It is a stepping stone to reach out to regional audiences across various countries."

One Asia Awards 2015 supporter, Pong Siew Inn, partner in accountancy firm PKF-CAP LLP, says: "The Award provides a platform for entrepreneurs who have been building their businesses at different stages to be recognised publicly.
"This could help to enhance their brand value, and at the same time, create the opportunity for them to network with other players in the industries through various events organised for the participants and winners. More importantly, the entrepreneurs are meeting other peers from the region. It is important that our homegrown businesses remain competitive at an international level, and this could be the first attempt. We have seen enterprises grown from here to become international brands."
PKF-CAP is the 13th largest accountancy firm in Singapore, providing audit, tax, accounting, consultancy and advisory services to businesses of various industries, including MNC and SMEs.
G Gobinathan, country manager, Royal Selangor Singapore, another organisation supporting the One Asia Awards, says: "The only thing constant in life is change and entrepreneurs attest to this with their creativity and tenacity to bring forth a better life for everyone. One Asia Awards is a great platform which brings together such entrepreneurial talents and gives them the due recognition for their contributions to the society at large.
"The organisers of One Asia Awards are passionate about their cause in encouraging entrepreneurship in our little red dot and facilitating their exposure to the world. Royal Selangor is certainly proud to be associated with the awards as the official trophy sponsor."
Maserati, which sponsored the One Asia Awards 2015 as the official luxury car presenter, says: "One Asia Awards recognises the talents within individual industry and offers the entrepreneurs an excellent platform for networking and growth. The award recipients demonstrate a constant striving for excellence, which is in line with Maserati's brand spirit. Hong Seh Motors wishes all APF Group members the very best, and keep accelerating towards greater heights this 2016!"
