The finalists in the Singapore Creator Awards look to daily living for inspiration.

WITH WATER AVAILABLE at the turn of a tap, why should Singaporeans worry about where it comes from? Eugene Lee, a design student from Nanyang Polytechnic, is himself worried about such an attitude, as he feels that Singaporeans should conserve water and treat it with more respect.

That's why the 25-year-old designed Sprout, a wall-mounted rain barrel which makes it easy for homes to collect rainwater, to be used for general purposes such as watering the plants.

For his efforts, Mr Lee was picked as one of the 20 finalists at this year's Singapore Creator Awards (SCA). Into its second year, SCA is a design competition which aims to spur innovation and creativity that's unique to Singapore culture....
