Bugatti Italy Vera Electric Kettle from $659

On a trip to China, Bugatti Italy's managing director Clemente saw a tea lady boiling a pot of water only to cool it with cold water after, prompting him to think about manufacturing a kettle that could heat water to a precise temperature.

The cone-shaped kettle comes with an electric control on its handle that allows the kettle to reach the desired temperature between 45 and 100 degrees Celsius. The handle also shows functions, such as a clock and timer.

The kettle comes in chrome finish and a variety of eight colours, like green and orange. But if colours and chrome are too common, there is more luxurious finishing. Having the kettle, and other items in the Bugatti Italy range, such as coffee maker and blender clad in Swarovski crystals, or hand-stitched leather, denim or even 24 carat-gold is possible.

Louis Poulsen PH Artichoke Gold $140,000

Red is an auspicious colour for Chinese New Year, and so is gold. So what better way to light up the home than having the iconic Artichoke lamp in gold. Designed by Dane Poul Henningsen in 1958, the Artichoke provides total glare-free light, thanks to the 72 precisely positioned leaves. The leaves illuminate the fixture, and emit diffused light with a unique pattern. The PH Artichoke Gold is a limited edition piece and will only be produced upon orders.

Fontana Arte Yumi lamp $7,440

Sometimes less is more, and a good example of this is the Yumi lamp by Japanese designer Shigeru Ban. The floor lamp has a no-fuss, clean design, that does the job of lighting up a space with its discreetly placed LED bulbs. It is shaped like a bow, hence its name.

Gearing up for Chinese New Year can be a tiring affair. There is spring cleaning to do, baking goodies, and having to put up with nosy relatives can make it a testing time. The Effegibi Touch&Steam panel turns any shower cubicle into a steam bath. The minimalist-looking panel can be installed in any bathroom. The glass is lit by up by the touch screen controls which enable users to select the various functions, such as steam generation, warm air, white light or colour-therapy lighting.

Imagine being able to relax with a steam bath at any time of the day without having to leave home.
