HONDA has turned the corner with a cooler and sportier Civic.

The new 10th-generation Honda Civic Sedan has more distinctive styling than its predecessor. It is also longer and lower with its wheelbase extended to 2,700 mm.

There are two versions - the Civic 1.6 VTi and the Civic 1.5 Turbo VTiS. The naturally aspirated 1.6 produces 125 hp and 152 Nm, while the turbocharged 1.5 spools out 173 hp and 220 Nm.

Both units drive the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission which employs a torque converter with a lock-up clutch for smoother operation.

The COE Category A Civic 1.6 is listed at S$111,999, while the Cat B Civic 1.5 Turbo is S$127,999.

The equipment level is high, with both variants having among others, dual zone climate control with rear ventilation outlet, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted shift paddle, keyless entry, push button start and driver's airbag.

In addition, the Turbo also gets side and curtain airbags, and an electric sunroof.
