His mobile-phone contract with Bharti Airtel Ltd charged him 6.4 rupees (19 Singapore cents) a minute to call the US. His new plan with the local joint venture of Malaysia's Maxis Communications Bhd costs 1.75 rupees, a 73 per cent savings.</description>
