Energy firms helped fuel an early advance in Hong Kong stocks on Wednesday as easing concerns about an oil glut sent the price of the commodity soaring.

[HONG KONG] Energy firms helped fuel an early advance in Hong Kong stocks on Wednesday as easing concerns about an oil glut sent the price of the commodity soaring.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index gained 0.24 per cent, or 53.11 points, to 21,884.73 soon after opening.

Chinese stock markets are closed for a public holiday.
