Hong Kong: Stocks open higher on Friday

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened up Thursday, tracking Wall Street after the nomination of a new US Federal Reserve chief and the unveiling of Republican tax reforms.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.22 per cent, or 63.97 points, to 28,582.61.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.16 per cent, or 5.57 points, to 3,377.74, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, eased 0.06 per cent, or 1.11 points, to 1,988.87.
