[SHANGHAI] Shanghai stocks fell 1.48 per cent on Friday morning, extending losses after a fall of more than three percent the previous day, on concerns over the economy and the possible removal of government support, dealers said.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 54.33 points to 3,609.96.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dropped 1.88 per cent, or 40.60 points, to 2,114.89.
