Friday, October 21, 2016 - 09:09

SINGAPORE stocks opened flat on Friday, with the Straits Times Index up by 0.16 points to 2,842.46.

Overnight, US stocks finished slightly lower as oil prices retreated and disappointing earnings from Travelers and some other companies offset a strong report from American Express.

In Singapore, about 51.2 million shares worth S$52.3 million in total changed hands as at 9.01am. Gainers outnumbered losers 59 to 58.

The most actively traded counter was LionGold, which opened flat at S$0.002 with about 18.5 million shares changing hands. Other actives included InnoPac and Ascendas Reit. The latter on Thursday posted a 3.1 per cent drop in distribution per unit (DPU) to 4.03 Singapore cents for its second quarter ended Sept 30.
