Singapore shares open lower on Friday


SINGAPORE shares opened lower on Friday, following declines in the US and European market as risk appetite waned over concerns of a global economic slowdown.

The benchmark Straits Times Index dipped 26.21 points or 0.93 per cent to 2,787.38 as at 9.02am. Some 46.8 million shares worth S$54.7 million were traded, with losers beating gainers 90 to 22.
