Tech earnings may wake bull market this week

The technology sector is regaining its reputation as a market leader; AT&T-Time Warner deal adds to the mood

US stocks were more or less flat last week as earnings, merger and election seasons presented pleasant surprises in some areas and nasty shocks in others.

This week, the bull market may awake from its slumber if earnings from Silicon Valley powerhouses like Apple, Amazon and Google's Alphabet are suitably impressive. A mega deal between phone carrier AT&T and studio giant Time Warner could also lift a sector that's been under assault from Silicon Valley.
