[BANGKOK] Thailand's preliminary exports in October rose about 4 per cent from a year earlier, a senior official at the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Exports for October were better than expected, with preliminary customs data showing a rise of about 4 per cent," Kritsada Jinavijarana, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, told reporters.

The Commerce Ministry is due to release customs-cleared trade data next week. Some economists expect a fall in exports in October.
