Tokyo: Shares down at open on Tuesday

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened modestly lower on Tuesday following a lacklustre lead from Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 0.29 per cent, or 48.37 points, to 16,549.82 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.30 per cent, or 3.96 points, to 1,299.72.
