Tokyo: Shares end up 0.28% in see-saw trade

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks finished up 0.28 per cent Thursday after a day of see-saw trade as investors await the European Central Bank's monetary policy meeting later in the day.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 48.54 points to end at 17,329.02, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was flat, edging down 0.08 per cent, or 1.18 points, to 1,389.43.
