[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed at a nine-month high on Monday as a weaker yen lifted exporters and traders were buoyed by upbeat Japanese growth figures and hopes for US President-elect Donald Trump's administration.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 1.71 per cent, or 297.83 points, to 17,672.62, marking the best finish since early February.
The broader Topix index rose 1.58 per cent, or 21.72 points, to 1,400.00.
