Kickstarter platform debuts in Singapore, Hong Kong
KICKSTARTER, the platform that popularised crowdfunding, was launched in Singapore and Hong Kong on Wednesday.
In a blog post, New York-based Sean Leow, who helps support Kickstarter's international community, said that the localised Kickstarter platforms will make it easier for creators in Hong Kong and Singapore to launch projects from their home countries.
"Backers around the world will see more creative and innovative projects emerge - and local backers will be able to take advantage of experiential rewards like attending a film screening or going to the opening night of a new restaurant."
Mr Leow added that Kickstarter has been overwhelmed by the passionate backer communities in both cities, who have collectively pledged over 300,000 times to over 40,000 creative projects around the world.
Among the projects that are now live on the Singapore Kickstarter platform are the GIY Stick, which reuses bottles and fabric to make any pot self-watering, and Hydra, a simple, automated indoor plant care system, for beginners and serious gardeners.
