Online booking platform Chope expands into Indonesia through acquisition
SINGAPORE'S Chope Group is acquiring an Indonesian firm and expanding into the reservation market of that country.
The online booking service provider said on Wednesday it is buying MakanLuar, a market-leading reservation platform in Indonesia, but did not reveal how much it is paying for the company.
MakanLuar, which means eating out in Indonesian, was launched in November 2013 by Jakarta residents Kunal Narang and Hiro Mohinani. It expanded later into Bali and Bandung, and had almost 100,000 dining reservations made last year.
Chope said it will retain MakanLuar's name for the time being, but added both parties hope to eventually create a "seamless experience" across the eight cities Chope is present in.
