Susan Allen, head of the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, is committed to raising the profile of Asian Americans in the US and giving them a voice in Congress.

"We’ve certainly come a long way since the time when Americans associated Asian Americans with Chinese restaurants and fried rice but unfortunately a lot of those misconceptions are still there.When American politicians speak about minorities, they mention Hispanics and African Americans, but somehow Asian Americans are left out of the conversation."
