ANZ launches new measure of confidence

Results of surveys on consumption patterns will be out much earlier than official data


COMPLAINTS that Singapore lacks timely data on consumption patterns should now be quelled (or at least mollified), as a new private-sector measure of consumer confidence has been launched to plug the gap.

ANZ, through a partnership with an Australian market research firm, on Wednesday launched the ANZ-Roy Morgan Singapore Consumer Confidence Index, which aims to provide a gauge of sentiment in the economy.
