Japan markets enter 'Golden Week' with glittering prospects

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock average is currently at its highest level since March (aided partly by a weakening yen which boosts exporting companies' earnings) as it closes in on the 20,000 mark.


THE Tokyo stock market is going into Japan's annual "Golden Week" holiday, which begins Wednesday, at a six-week high and with analysts projecting a series of upbeat corporate earnings reports. These in turn, they say, should drive the market even higher.
