FORMER HSBC investment banker Jonathan Gan has joined Citi's Private Capital Group as head of South Asia, as part of a push by Citi to beef up its family office expertise.

Mr Gan, who is based in Singapore, will be responsible for strengthening the bank's presence and intensifying its segment coverage in the fast-growing family office hub in South Asia.

This new appointment follows Faye Ong's hire in June as the head of Family Office Advisory for Asia.

Mr Gan will be reporting to Citi Private Capital Group Asia Pacific head Bernie Wai and Citi Private Bank chairman and South Asia head Lee Lung-Nien.

With over 16 years of deal experience across the US, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia, Mr Gan has extensive experience across all investment banking products, including equity and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged acquisition financing, pre-initial public offering (IPO) or mezzanine fund raising and syndicated loans.

In his previous role at HSBC's corporate bank where he worked for almost a decade, Mr Gan built a unique client coverage model which leveraged his extensive origination and execution knowledge of advisory and capital raising transactions across the South-east Asia region.
