Hong Kong: Stocks end sharply higher

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rallied Thursday, in line with an Asia-wide advance following the release of Joe Biden's latest US spending plan, while traders also welcomed news the city's stalled BioNTech vaccine programme would restart next week.

The Hang Seng Index rallied 1.97 per cent, or 560.39 points, to 28,938.74.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.71 per cent, or 24.42 points, to 3,466.33, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange jumped 1.11 per cent, or 24.57 points, to 2,242.19.
