Hong Kong: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Wednesday following declines on Wall Street as US data showing a surprise jump in inflation raised investor concerns over Federal Reserve policy.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.27 per cent, or 75.40 points, to 27,888.01 in the first few minutes of trade.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index retreated 0.51 per cent, or 18.27 points, to 3,548.25, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange slipped 0.39 per cent, or 9.79 points, to 2,482.18.
