Director activity remains low, buyback value jumps

DIRECTOR activity remained low based on filings on Singapore Exchange from Oct 26 to 30 with eight companies recording 25 purchases worth S$1.06 million versus three firms making five disposals worth S$1.15 million. The figures were consistent with the previous week's 10 companies, 21 purchases and S$1.94 million on the buy side and three firms, four disposals and S$0.96 million on the sell side.

Aside from directors, the buyback activity was also low last week with nine companies making 24 repurchases worth S$10.5 million. The numbers of firms and trades were sharply down from the previous week's 14 companies and 42 repurchases. The value, on the other hand, was sharply up from the previous week's buybacks worth S$4.8 million. The turnover last week, however, was largely due to buybacks by OSIM International worth S$8.63 million. Another company that bought shares last week was Sembcorp Marine, recording its lowest purchase price since it started its buyback programme in 2008.

There were also key director purchases in Sunningdale Tech, S I2I Limited, iX Biopharma Ltd, and Health Management International. On the funds side, there were acquisitions in Super Group and Venture Corporation last week.
