FAIRPRICE Group has appointed Chan Tee Seng as its first chief sustainability officer to develop and execute long-term sustainability initiatives across the group, its supply chains and various stakeholder groups.
These initiatives focus on promoting a circular and low-carbon economy, supporting livelihoods and well-being, and serving its customers, FairPrice Group said.
Chan was previously chief executive of the group’s food services businesses, and helmed various leadership roles within NTUC and NTUC Enterprise.
He was also chairman of the Singapore National Co-operative Federation from 2009 to 2017.
Chan said that he is excited to take on this new role to “inspire bold action” in support of sustainable development in FairPrice Group and in Singapore’s retail landscape.
Group chief executive Vipul Chawla said Chan’s appointment highlights the growing emphasis that the group is placing on sustainability, adding that Chan is a tenured leader who is well-placed to help FairPrice Group navigate new developments and legislation.
