George Yeo joins Wilmar board
SINGAPORE's former foreign minister George Yeo has been appointed by Singapore Exchange (SGX)-listed Wilmar International to its board of directors.
In a notification to the SGX on Friday, the Singapore-based agribusiness group said it had appointed Mr Yeo as a non-independent, non-executive director with effect from Nov 1.
"The Board has reviewed the recommendation made by the Nominating Committee and, having considered Mr George Yong-Boon Yeo's vast knowledge and expertise in both the public sector and international business affairs, has approved his appointment as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Wilmar," it noted in the written announcement.
The 60-year-old Mr Yeo has been active in the private sector in Hong Kong since leaving politics in 2011. During this time, he has been serving as deputy chairman of Kerry Group Limited, chairman and executive director of Kerry Logistics Network Limited (KLN) and a director of the KLN group of companies. In addition, he has been appointed as an independent, non-executive director of AIA Group Limited. Both of these groups are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
