SIA Engineering appointed on-site support service provider for CFM engines

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has been appointed on-site support service provider for the "Leap" aircraft engines produced and marketed by CFM International.

With the appointment, SIAEC will be able to offer on-wing maintenance services to those operating CFM's Leap-1A and Leap 1-B next-generation single-aisle aircraft engines in the Asia-Pacific. Leap 1-A is one of two engine options for the Airbus A320neo family, and Leap-1B is the exclusive power plant for the Boeing 737 Max.

CFM is a joint venture firm between French multinational aircraft and rocket engine manufacturer Snecma and the United States' General Electric to build gas turbine engines.

SIAEC chief executive Png Kim Chiang said the appointment adds to the firm's "growing capabilities" on next-generation aircraft.

"We look forward to the partnership with Snecma to provide on-site support to CFM customers for the Leap 1-A and Leap 1-B engines in this region," he said. "Through this partnership, we will be able to provide prompt on-site technical assistance for our airline customers in Asia-Pacific operating these new-generation engines."

Snecma's vice-president of the services and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) division Francois Planaud said the partnership will reinforce Snecma's capacity to support both engines delivered to the numerous customers in the Asia-Pacific.
