Watches: the bigger, the bolder, the better
Over the last few years there has been an explosion in the size of watches, says analyst

JORDY Cobelens was a 22-year-old Dutch disc jockey, working in Amsterdam electro clubs in 2005, when he noticed that a lot of the club kids around him were wearing bigger and bigger wristwatches.
"I had a girlfriend at the time, and she wanted to have a men's watch, and she wanted the biggest one available," he recalled. "There were brands making them, but they were much more expensive than we could afford."
Mr Cobelens was the son of a watch designer so he reported the trend to his father. "We were looking for something we could do together," he remembered. "We saw this gap in the market, so we said: 'Let's give it a try."'
