Opec's research head to return to Saudi Aramco: sources
[LONDON] The director of the research division at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) Omar AbdulHamid will step down from his post and return to Saudi Aramco, industry sources said on Thursday.
Mr AbdulHamid, who was previously head of the research and development centre at Saudi Aramco, was appointed in 2013 to the second most senior post at Opec after the secretary general.
Opec's next scheduled meeting on June 2nd is expected to discuss the replacement of its secretary general Abdullah el-Badri.
Nigeria has nominated Mohammed Barkindo, a former head of its state oil firm NNPC, as the next secretary general of the producer group.
