Mr Lee said even as Singaporeans fan out across the world, the centre must hold, the system must work, so there is a 'solid core' of rooted citizens who share an identity.


IT is possible for Singapore to have a non-Chinese as its prime minister, but much will depend on the political situation at that time and whether this leader is able to speak Mandarin to better connect with the people, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said.
