Creative Tech among 7 in breach of personal data law
Total S$90,000 in penalties levied against six entities for failing to safeguard data, while one was given a warning

ANOTHER crop of organisations has been found in breach of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), with six of the seven being fined S$90,000 in total penalties.
These companies included Creative Technology, a service provider for MSIG Insurance (Singapore) and a recruiter that was attacked by ransomware.
Bryan Tan, partner at Pinsent Masons, told The Business Times that most of the past cases before the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) were a result of shortcomings or failings, including not applying patches, code written wrongly or not properly tested and data erroneously sent.
