THE Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) and analytics platform Tableau Software have renewed their partnership to train and deepen the capabilities of public officers in data analytics and visualisation.

Both parties renewed the partnership with the signing of a memorandum of intent on Tuesday to empower more public officers to understand and make use of data, transform the public sector's operations with data-driven decisions and accelerate Singapore's digitalisation movement in line with the Smart Nation initiative.

Tableau and GovTech will engage in "knowledge sharing of resources, industry best practices and tools to continue strengthening the abilities of public officers" within the Singapore government. Public agencies will also have access to Tableau's content, learning resources and subject matter experts.

Tableau has worked with GovTech since 2017 to upskill public officers and deepen visual analytics capabilities within the public service. To date, thousands of public officers have been trained with visual analytics skills, the statement said.

GovTech chief executive Kok Ping Soon said the collaboration will support GovTech in building a digitally ready and data-literate workforce to transform public service delivery.

"These skills could not have been more timely for the public service as we focus our efforts to help businesses and citizens tide over the global pandemic and accelerate the recovery of the Singapore economy," he added.
