No conflict of interest in Lucien Wong as AG: PM Lee
THERE is no conflict of interest in hiring Lucien Wong and Hri Kumar as Attorney-General and Deputy Attorney-General respectively, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
PM Lee said that they recuse themselves when it comes to matters they had previously handled as private lawyers.
As Mr Wong was PM Lee's lawyer on the dispute with his siblings on the house, he does not advise the government on the matter and another officer in the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) takes charge.
PM Lee highlighted that Mr Wong is one of Singapore's top lawyers and that it is critical for Singapore to have a strong AGC and a strong top leadership.
