September retail sales down more than forecast

RETAIL sales in the US dropped more than forecast in September, reflecting a broad-based pullback that signalled consumers took a breather.
The 0.3 per cent decrease followed a 0.6 per cent August gain that was the biggest in four months, Commerce Department figures showed on Wednesday in Washington.
