Greening the office environment
RICOH Asia Pacific actively develops sustainable businesses in line with its mission to protect the environment by implementing measures against climate change and improving resource productivity through its business activities.
The company is the regional headquarters of the Japanese imaging and electronics group, and oversees the marketing and sales activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ricoh Asia Pacific provides innovative office equipment and solutions through its subsidiaries and distributors in each country that it operates in.
"Ricoh sees sustainability as a business opportunity in the long run. We are now actively developing environmental oriented businesses," said Kazuhisa Goto, Managing Director of Ricoh Asia Pacific.
He noted that Ricoh Eco Business Development Center in Japan aims to accelerate the development of environmental technologies, develop reuse and recycling technologies as well as implement and optimise these technologies to create new businesses.
The most significant sustainability programme that Ricoh runs in Singapore is Eco Action Day, a nationwide campaign to call on organisations, schools and individuals to make pledges that are positive to the environment.
The event, which it runs in collaboration with government bodies and NGOs, is held on June 5 every year to commemorate World Environment Day.
"Being the first private organisation to receive the Eco Office certification by the Singapore Environment Council back in 2004, we feel the need to share our knowledge through conducting eco office tours to more organisations so that they can inculcate green practices into their office environment as well," said Mr Goto.
Ricoh's Sustainable Product Programme, meanwhile, is an assessment of the company's products based on their energy and resource efficiency, pollution prevention and usability.
"As a manufacturer of office printing products and solutions, we recognise the importance of providing customers with products and services that can further contribute to enhancing sustainability."
