TWO related companies - UA Sports (SEA) Pte Ltd, and Triple Pte Ltd, have the distinction of winning awards at this year's S1000 awards and rankings in the commerce-retail segment.

While UA Sports (SEA) Pte Ltd was awarded the Singapore SME 1000 Net Profit Growth Excellence Award with its 2018 Net Profit Rank at 80, Triple Pte Ltd got the Singapore SME 1000 Sales/Turnover Growth Excellence Award with its 2018 Sales Rank at 38.

"It is an honour for both of our companies, UA Sports (SEA) Pte Ltd, and Triple Pte Ltd, to be recognised by the S1000 rankings by DP Info. . . It is truly a privilege to be leading the commerce-retail industries among the finalists," says Michael Binger, chief executive officer for UA Sports (SEA) Pte Ltd, and Triple Pte Ltd. IMPROVEMENTS

But both the companies are not going to rest on their laurels and propose to improve on their performance going forward. "As a firm believer in building a passionate and committed workforce, we continue to empower our staff to be passionate educators and advocates of Under Armour, and our other brands.

"Through various initiatives in place to ensure that our staff receive a well-rounded fitness experience, they are motivated to deliver a high-quality retail and gym experience for our customers," says Mr Binger.

"In addition, we have investment plans to reinforce our e-commerce and omnichannel presence across the region, which will be crucial in the future growth of the group. Lastly, we are also planning further brick and mortar expansion in some of our overseas markets, specifically in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines," he adds.

Established in 2013, Triple Pte Ltd is a sports and lifestyle retailer which holds the exclusive distribution rights for the Under Armour brand across South-east Asia. Triple launched the Under Armour operations in Singapore and the Philippines in May 2014.

It has to date expanded the Under Armour distribution network to cover eight South-east Asian markets through a combination of 47 Brand Houses as well as shop in shop and multi-brand wholesale executions.

DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS

In addition, Triple owns the distribution rights for premium niche sports brands, namely Odlo, Every Second Counts, C3Fit and Newline, in South-east Asia. These brands are currently housed in its multibrand retail format Triplefit, which also includes the operation of a gym.

On plans to grow the business going forward, Mr Binger says: "When it comes to high performance sportswear brand, we aim to be South-east Asia's leading retailer. We want to empower all fitness enthusiasts and athletes in the region to perform and achieve their fitness goals better with our comprehensive gamut of innovative UA gear.

"This would mean that we need to have staff who are ready to be innovative in providing customers with solutions that meet their fitness needs. Ultimately, we want people to see Under Armour not just as an apparel brand, but as a fitness brand that provides the right tools for all to achieve their fitness goals.

"We are also assessing our expansion of the Triplefit concept in Singapore and beyond. The plan is to serve athletes in South-east Asia with a multitude of premium and functional sports brands, extending the offer into fast growing sports categories such as cycling and athleisure," he adds.
