FOUR entrepreneurs from diverse businesses - one each from engineering services and process equipment, sustainable packaging solutions, professional services and food and beverage - have been named as this year's winners of the 13th Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The annual awards by audit firm Ernst and Young honour entrepreneurs for their entrepreneurial spirit and their success in growing their businesses.

This year's winners, chosen from more than 40 nominations, are Kar Wong, managing director of Advanced Holdings; Susan Chong, chief executive officer of Greenpac; Ong Tze Boon, group executive chairman of Ong & Ong and Alfred Chua, co-founder and managing director of The Wok People. One of them will also represent Singapore at the annual EY World Entrepreneur of the Year award in Monte Carlo in 2015.

Dr Wong, 53, was lauded for successfully steering Advanced Holdings towards steadfast growth, and for his customer-focused approach to business. The group, founded by Dr Wong in 1993, is a supplier of process technologies and equipment solutions to the oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and power-generation industries.
