SINGAPORE is a good springboard for Chinese companies seeking to go global and explore markets in Asean, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Tuesday at a China-Asean business and investment conference in Nanning.

And he gave three reasons why they should make use of Singapore as the launching pad into Asean, which will have a common market next year with the birth of the Asean Economic Community: Asean has a big growth potential; Singapore is a business-friendly hub; and Singapore can bridge the cultural differences between Asean and China.

Making the pitch to CEOs of Chinese companies at a roundtable dialogue at the 11th China-Asean Business and Investment Summit, Mr Lee said: "Many Chinese companies have recognised this and have chosen Singapore as their regional hub."
