DHL Express boosts Apac network with added airfreight capacity

DHL Express is flying high, buoyed by an "exponential growth" in shipment volume driven by e-commerce demand and "blessed" by the timely delivery of its new Boeing 777 freighters.

As Ingrid Raj, head of Aviation at DHL Express Asia Pacific puts it: "Our stars were clearly aligned."

Cross-border e-commerce in Asia-Pacific has been a strong growth driver for DHL Express. And across Oceania, exports have been growing.

Indeed, while air cargo demand in January 2021 has returned to pre-Covid levels according to the International Air Transport Association, cargo capacity remains limited as a result of shortage of belly capacity in passenger aircraft.
